José María Tarín Curto
Priest of the Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
José María Tarín Curto was born at Santa Bárbara, in the province of Tarragona and the diocese of Tortosa, on 6 February 1892, was ordained priest on 2 June 1917 and joined the Brotherhood that August. He taught seminarians at Tortosa, Belchite, Burgos, León, Astorga, Toledo and Zaragoza, and he died a martyr at Tortosa on 28 October 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Joaquín Jovaní Marín and fourteen companions of the Brotherhood of Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
