Priest of the Sons of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
José Vila Barri was born at Camprodon, near Girona, on 14 April 1910, made his religious profession in 1928 and was ordained priest in 1936. Thrown into prison, he was killed because he was a priest at Terma llarga, near Granollers de la Plana, in September 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Iacobus Puig Mirosa and nineteen companions of the Congregation of the Sons of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
