Who they were
Juan Franquesa Costa was born at Santa Fe de la Segarra, near Lleida, on 19 September 1867, made his religious profession in 1893 and was ordained priest in 1896. He was arrested as a priest at the railway station of Sant Guim de Freixenet and killed in the cemetery of Cervera on 2 September 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Iacobus Puig Mirosa and nineteen companions of the Congregation of the Sons of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
