Juliana of Liège
Premonstratensian canoness, saint and mystic

Who they were
Juliana, orphaned at five, was raised at the convent of Mont-Cornillon near Liège, where she loved St Augustine and St Bernard and had an ardent love for Our Lady, the Passion and above all the Blessed Sacrament. She took the veil in 1206 and nursed the sick.
She worked with all her energy to bring about the feast of Corpus Christi. Elected superior in 1230, she was persecuted and driven out by a corrupt superior, vindicated, and driven out again. She died at Fosses on 5 April 1258.

In 1869 Pope Pius IX ratified the honour paid to her and allowed the Office and Mass in her honour.
