Who they were
Lebuinus (Liafwin), an English monk inspired by St Boniface and St Willibrord, went to the Frisians and was sent to preach on the borders of Westphalia. His learning and holiness won many, even nobles, to the Faith, and he built churches at Wulpe and Deventer.
The pagans burned his church, but he rebuilt it at Deventer, where he died about 770 and was buried.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
