In the monastery of Cava de' Tirreni in Campania, Saint Leo I, abbot, who provided for the poor with the work of his own hands and defended them against the powerful.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 12 July as an abbot of Cava who supported the poor by his own labour and defended them against the powerful.
