Luis Prado García
Seminarian of Oviedo, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Born at San Martín de Laspra on 4 March 1914, he entered the minor seminary of Valdediós in 1930 and had to return home when the civil war broke out; knowing he was about to be arrested, he took shelter with a family at Carriona near Avilés, was found by chance and was shot in the Iglesiona prison at Gijón on 4 September 1936. Pope Francis beatified him with Ángel Cuartas Cristóbal and his eight companions on 9 March 2019.

The decree on martyrdom records that these young men knew the danger and chose to stay faithful rather than hide their loyalty to the Church.
