Who they were
Maria Adelaidis Töpfer, in the world Hedwig Agnes, was born at Nysa on 26 August 1887 and made her perpetual profession in 1919; she stayed in the same city to care for the needy and was shot by a soldier on 24 March 1945 in front of the sick she was nursing. She was beatified on 11 June 2022 at Wrocław by Pope Francis among Maria Paschalis Jahn and nine companions.
