Who they were
María del Patrocinio de San José Badía Flaquer was born at Bigues in the province of Barcelona on 28 August 1903, entered the Carmelite monastery of Vic in October 1929 and pronounced her solemn vows in April 1934.
She was taken on 13 August 1936 and, after being put to several cruel indignities, was killed by the militia the next day. She was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI, among Ángel María Prat Hostench and his sixteen companions of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, killed in 1936.
