Who they were
Maria Rosaria Schilling, in the world Elfriede, was born at Wrocław on 5 May 1908 and made her perpetual profession in 1935; at Nowogrodziec she chose to stay with the sick and elderly who could not flee before the advancing Red Army, and after being raped by soldiers she was killed on 23 February 1945. She was beatified on 11 June 2022 at Wrocław by Pope Francis among Maria Paschalis Jahn and nine companions.
