Who they were
Millán Garde Serrano was born at Vara del Rey on 21 December 1876, was ordained priest on 21 December 1901 and taught and guided seminarians at Toledo, Badajoz, Cuernavaca, Querétaro, Valladolid, Salamanca, Astorga, Plasencia and León; he died in the prison at Cuenca on 7 July 1938 from the conditions and the ill-treatment he suffered. He was beatified on 30 October 2021 by Pope Francis among Francisco Cástor Sojo López and three companions.
