Conventual Franciscan priest, director of the Poor Clares of Moulins, martyr
Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as a priest of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual and director of the Poor Clares of Moulins, born on 27 February 1733 and dead on 16 July; the Roman Martyrology remembers him with Claude Béguignot, both forced during the French Revolution into a squalid imprisonment aboard a ship off Rochefort in hatred of their priesthood, where they died worn out by disease. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
