Who they were

At Kyiv in the territory of present-day Ukraine, Saint Olga, grandmother of Saint Vladimir, who, first among the Rurikids, received baptism and the name Helen, opening to all the people of Rus' the way to Christ.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 11 July as the grandmother of Saint Vladimir, first of the Rurikids to be baptised.
