On the mountains of the Alpujarras near Granada in Andalusia in Spain, Blessed Mark Criado, priest of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity for the liberation of slaves and martyr, who was killed by the Moors. In the town of Carrión de Calatrava near Ciudad Real, also in Spain, the blessed martyrs Juan Pedro (José) Bengoa Aranguren, priest, and Pablo María (Pedro) Leoz y Portillo, religious of the Congregation of the Passion, and Jesús Hita Miranda, religious of the Society of Mary, who, during the persecution, were shot by militiamen in hatred of the Church.
