Who they were
Pedro Verdaguer Saurina was born at Manlleu, near Barcelona, on 24 October 1908, made his religious profession in 1924 and was ordained priest in 1932. He was arrested at Barcelona on 15 October 1936, thrown into the prison of Sant Elies, and met his death there. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Iacobus Puig Mirosa and nineteen companions of the Congregation of the Sons of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
