Who they were
Praxedes and Potentiana (Pudentiana) were martyrs of Rome of unknown date, buried in adjoining graves in the catacomb of Priscilla, as the seventh-century pilgrims' guides record. Later legends make them daughters of Pudens, a disciple of St Peter, connected with the ancient church of Santa Pudenziana. The church of Santa Prassede in Rome bears her name.

There was never a formal cause: Praxedes has been honoured as a martyr since the early centuries.
