Dominican sister of the Annunciation, teacher, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Reginalda Picas Planas was born at Borredá in the diocese of Vic on 25 May 1895, joined the Sisters of Saint Dominic of the Annunciation and taught in several schools of the institute, known for her devotion and for her care in keeping the rule.
On 27 July 1936, while she was making for a safer place, she was killed near Manresa together with Sister Rosa Jutglar Gallart, praying for her persecutors as she was led to her death. She was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI, among Antero Mateo García and his eleven companions of the Second and Third Orders of Saint Dominic.
