Sebastián Segarra Barberá
Priest of the Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Sebastián Segarra Barberá was born at Paüls, in the province of Tarragona and the diocese of Tortosa, on 28 March 1894, joined the Brotherhood on 12 August 1918 and was ordained priest on 1 November 1919. He gave his ministry to future priests at Córdoba, Jaén, Burgos, Belchite, Murcia, Orihuela, Valencia and Tortosa, and he died a martyr by the cemetery of Les Corts in Barcelona on 5 October 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Joaquín Jovaní Marín and fourteen companions of the Brotherhood of Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
