Simón Miguel Rodríguez

Who they were

Born at Villalcampo in the diocese of Zamora on 23 November 1912, he made his religious vows as a lay brother in 1932 and was the cook of the community at Fuenteovejuna. He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI with Félix Echevarría Gorostiaga and six companions of the Order of Friars Minor.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The decree records that the people of God held them all to be true martyrs of the faith, and that Félix Echevarría Gorostiaga and six companions were killed for their fidelity to Christ and the Church.
