Who they were

Born at Poago on 1 February 1916, he entered the seminary of Oviedo in 1929; caught at home by the outbreak of the war, he took refuge with his father in the parish church, was sent to serve the troops and then to a punishment camp near Cangas de Onís, and was stabbed to death at Ventanielles, near Ponga, on 27 May 1937. Pope Francis beatified him with Ángel Cuartas Cristóbal and his eight companions on 9 March 2019.
