Theophilus of Alexandria

Who they were

At Alexandria in Egypt, the holy martyrs Ammon, Zeno, Ptolemy and Ingenes, soldiers, and the old man Theophilus, who, being present at the trial, tried with their faces, with their looks and with signs to encourage a Christian who was frightened by the torments to which he was being subjected and was now on the point of denying the faith; when for this the clamour of the whole crowd was raised against them, they ran into the middle and confessed that they were Christians: so in their victory Christ himself triumphed gloriously, who had given his faithful such firmness of soul.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 1 June as the old man who, with four soldiers at Alexandria, stepped forward at a trial and confessed that he was a Christian.
