Priest of the Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Tomás Cubells Miguel was born at Palma de Ebro, in the province of Tarragona and the diocese of Tortosa, on 25 October 1867, was ordained priest on 19 May 1894 and joined the Brotherhood in 1902. He gave his ministry to the care of vocations in Spain and at Cuernavaca in Mexico, and he died a martyr at Campredó, near Tarragona, on 1 September 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Joaquín Jovaní Marín and fourteen companions of the Brotherhood of Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
