Victoriano Ibañez Alonso

Who they were

Victoriano Ibañez Alonso was born at Santibáñez de Resoba in the diocese and province of Palencia on 2 November 1864 and, already a Dominican tertiary, in 1892 chose the closer bond and joined the Order by entering the novitiate. He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI among the martyrs of the cause of Enrique Izquierdo Palacios and thirteen companions of the Order of Preachers.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Dicastery records that he moved from the Dominican third order to the novitiate of the Order in 1892.
