Vincent of Saragossa

Who they were

Vincent Pallotti was born in Rome on 21 April 1795 and said God had given him holy parents. Ordained on 16 May 1818, he taught theology and was confessor at the Roman Seminary and at the College of Propaganda Fide.

From 1834 he gathered priests and lay men and women into the Union of Catholic Apostolate, convinced that every baptised person is called to work actively for the salvation of others, and that apostolic work is more fruitful when done together. He died in Rome on 22 January 1850.

The miracles examined for his causes are not described in the sources we have used.

Why that counted as sanctity

Long before the Second Vatican Council, Pallotti saw that the mission of the Church belongs to all the baptised, lay and clergy together, and he spent his life on that vision in prayer, the confessional and charity.
